Common questions

Does recording work without signal?

Yes, and that is the point. The route is written to your phone as you drive, with no network involved. It survives losing signal, quitting the app, and the battery dying. It uploads when you next have a connection and open the app.

Why does Ventr want location access all the time?

So recording continues when your phone is in your pocket or locked, which is where it spends a trip. Location is recorded only while a trip is actively recording, and iOS shows the blue indicator the whole time so it is never ambiguous.

Is my trip visible to anyone?

No. Everything is private until you publish it, and publishing is a deliberate act with a confirmation. When you do publish, both ends of your route are automatically trimmed by at least 750 metres so the map does not point at your home.

I signed in and my trips are not there

Trips upload from the phone that recorded them. If you recorded on another device, open Ventr there while it has a connection and pull to refresh on the Trips tab, which drains anything waiting to send.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Delete account. It closes the account immediately and erases your stored files within seven days. If you cannot reach the app, email us from your account's address.

How do I get my trips out?

Email support@getventr.app and we will send you your trips and media. A self-service export is on the roadmap.
